Sell Christmas Ornaments Online

A great way to sell Christmas ornaments is online. When you have a store online you can reach more potential customers then you could even imagine.

Why sell Christmas ornaments online?

There are a few good reasons why you should sell your Christmas ornaments online as opposed to selling them at a local craft store or even by placing ads in your local paper.

1. The sheer amount of people you can reach online. No matter how well you market your ornaments off line you will never be able to get as many people looking at what you are selling offline as you can with the same marketing efforts online.

2. Cost. It is much more cost effective to sell your Christmas ornaments online then it would be to sell them at a craft show or even out of your home.

To set up your own Christmas ornament store online will cost a fraction of what it will cost to sell them offline. Even if you do not know how to market your online store and you need to buy a course to learn you would still come out ahead.

So… Where would you sell Christmas ornaments online?

The best place to sell your ornaments online would be at Etsy.com. Etsy is a marketplace just for crafters.

When you sign up to sell your crafts at Etsy, you are given a specific URL for your store. You are then able to personalize the store to your liking and to make it stand out from the rest of the stores.

To list an item in your store it costs .20 for three month. You can have as many or as few items in your store as you want. It has a feedback system similar to Ebay but the way they are set up is nothing like Ebay. It is much more user friendly, when someone visits your store they can see everything you have for sale, and it costs less to sell your crafts at Etsy.

How To Sell Gift Baskets Online

Gift baskets make truly wonderful gifts. They are perfect for giving to coworkers and friends alike. They also take some talent to put together which is why if you are great at making gift baskets then you should definitely consider learning how to sell gift baskets online.

There are a few options available to you to sell your gift baskets online.

1. Etsy – Etsy.com

The first options available to you to sell your gift baskets online is Etsy. Etsy is a website solely for crafters to sell their products. This is in my opinion the best way to sell your craft online. What is really nice about Etsy is that unlike Ebay, you actually set up a store so when someone visits your store they can see everything you are selling in one place. It also has very low listing fees (.20 a listing).

Another nice feature of Etsy is the Alchemy feature. This allows a potential customer to actually request what they would like to see in a gift basket. This can provide you with many more customers since they are able to get exactly what they are looking for.

2. Ebay – Ebay.com

Ebay would be the next best option next to Etsy for selling your gift baskets online. The reason I place them at number two for selling your gift baskets is because they are more expensive to list your baskets, there is more competition so it is harder to get your gift baskets seen, you are not able to customize your baskets to your customers request, and in order for your potential customer to find all of your gift baskets for sale they have to click through to your store.

Don’t get me wrong, Ebay is a very viable option for selling gift baskets online. I just feel that Etsy is a little bit better.

3. Craigslist – Craigslist.org

Craiglist is a place where you can set up free ads. While this option is free it is also a bit limited. Because Craiglist is like a classified ad you can only target potential customers in a certain area. You are also only able to run one ad at a time for you gift baskets. Multiple ads on the same product go against their rules.

4. Usfreeads – UsFreeAds.com

Usfreeads is another place to list classified ads for selling your online gift baskets. Usfreeads is actually more global as in you do not have to target your local market. The downside of using Usfreeads is that unless you are a paid member you can only post 10 ads at a time. This is also a very good option for marketing your Etsy store or Ebay listings once you have set them up but I wouldn’t recommend using them solely for selling gift baskets online.

The Best Place To Sell Crafts Online

Depending on what you are selling there are many options available for you when it comes to selling your craft online. I think the best place to sell crafts online though is using Etsy. Etsy is a website that is designed solely with crafters in mind. Unlike Ebay where anything goes, everything that you sell on Etsy has to be either handmade or the supplies needed to make crafts.

It is also becoming well known as a great place to buy handmade goods. This will definitely work to your advantage if you are selling crafts because right off the bat if you have someone browsing your store then they are more likely to buy since they are looking for handmade items.

Another great thing about Etsy is that they have a very small listing fee. This is especially important if you are planning on listing a lot of your crafts in your store. Each listing you put on costs .20 for your item to be listed for 3 months. In today’s world, that is nothing and is much cheaper then other places. That also means for $1 you can set up your store and list five items while getting your feet wet. Talk about a big investment!

They are easy to use and personalize. Etsy is easy to use when it comes to setting up your listings and they allow you to personalize your store to make it uniquely yours. Just like the craft you are going to sell the more unique you are the better you are going to be remember and the more you are going to sell.

Another reason that Etsy is the best place to sell crafts online is that they allow you to take requests. This is actually a big one. Etsy allows customers (if you choose) to request of you a variation of what you are selling. So lets say you have a beautiful knitted baby blanket and someone see it and absolutely loves it. The only problem the customer thinks is that it is the wrong color.

Well, now they can turn around and ask you if you could make it in the color that they wish it was. Not only is your customer delighted but so are you because you just sold a blanket that you would not of otherwise sold. There is a lot of power in allowing your customer request little changes to make it exactly what they want.

If you are ready to sell your crafts online then Etsy (in my opinion) is the best place to sell crafts online.

Where To Sell Crafts Online

For many people, finding out where to sell crafts online is a stumbling block. While there is no right or wrong answer here, there are a few places that are better to sell crafts online then others.

The first place I would suggest you look into when picking where to sell crafts online is Etsy. The reason I think this is the best option is because that is what Etsy is all about. It is a marketplace for crafter’s.

Etsy has a few different features that I think makes them rise above the rest of the places.

1. They allow Alchemy. This could very well make or break your business. How many times have you seen something that you absolutely love but it simply will not fit in with what you would like to use it for? For example, you see a nice handmade quilt. The design is breathtaking. It looks warm and soft however the color combination will simply not work in your room.

Well with alchemy you would be able to request that the maker of that quilt make a custom one for you. Do I need to elaborate on what that could do for your sales?

On the other side of it Etsy has a custom marketplace where you can actually bid on making something custom for them. So when you are browsing the custom section, if someone is requesting something you make you can bid to do it for them. It is just another way to sell more and to also get your name out there.

2. You have an actual store on Etsy. In my opinion this is important because when someone visits your store they have instant access to everything that you are selling. This increases your chances of them finding the perfect item that they can not live without.

3. You can easily personalize your Etsy store. I really like this feature because it sets your store apart from the rest. The more unique your craft is and the more unique your store looks the further your craft business will go.

Sell Handmade Crafts – Your Options

The first step to selling handmade crafts is to figure out where you would like to sell them. There are many options available to you to sell handmade crafts. They range from selling your crafts at craft shows to setting up your own online store.

Selling your crafts at craft shows – Selling your crafts at a craft show is a very viable option. The best way to find craft shows in your area is to go to your local website to see the happenings and on-goings in the future or if you know that specific craft shows come to your area every year you can go to their website to see when they will be there.

Most craft shows have a paid registration process and a review process. You can expect to pay anywhere from $50 to $300 to register for a craft show.

Whats involved in selling your craft at a craft show?

In order to sell your craft at a craft show you will need tables and a canopy so you have shelter and a place to display your crafts. The way you set up your show is important because first impressions count.

Be prepared to spend a few hours hauling your equipment and crafts to the show and a few more to break down your temporary store.

Selling your crafts at a craft store – Some stores will actually rent you out space in their store for you to sell your crafts. I have a store in the next town over from me that you can actually rent out a small spot on their shelves to display your crafts. When you sell something you and the store split the profit.

Sell handmade crafts out of your house – Another option to you is to sell your crafts out of your home. You can accomplish this two ways. You can either put classified ads in your local paper, signs in your yard (if your town allows this), and put classified ads online or start your own craft store online.

Where would you start your own online craft store?

A great place to sell handmade crafts is through Etsy.com. Etsy is a online marketplace for crafters. The great thing about Etsy is that you can actually set up your very own personalized store for a fraction of the price it would cost you to sell your crafts at craft stores or by using classified ads.

The only downside to selling handmade crafts online is that you will need to learn how to market your store. It is not hard but it will take a few months to really learn how.

When you sell your crafts at a craft store or craft show part of your fee you pay goes to marketing the show or store so it is already done for you. When you place classified ads that is a form of marketing. When you start an online business it is up to you to make people aware of your store.

The good news is that you can learn how to market your store for the same amount of money or even less then it would cost you to pay a registration fee or place classified ads.

How To Sell Crafts

There are many avenues that you can take to learn how to sell crafts. You can go to craft shows in your local area, sell them at a flea type market, place classified ads in your local newspaper, or even sell your crafts online.

Selling at a local craft show – Many times you can find local craft shows that are taking place in your town or towns nearby. The easiest way to find out this information is to visit your towns community website. They should have a list of upcoming events for the season.

If you are considering selling your crafts at local craft stores then you need to be prepared to pay money for your booth. Also, many of the craft shows have an application process you need to go through so they can determine if what you make will fit in with what they are striving to achieve with their craft show.

Make sure you give yourself plenty of time to get registered for upcoming craft shows.

How to sell crafts at flea markets – Selling your craft at a flea market is another route you can go to sell your crafts. Most flea markets will let you rent out a booth for the weekend and some will make you sign a contract for renting a booth for a few months at a time. The reason for this is because if they are not able to fill up their booths, it’s not worth running the flea market.

Selling your craft using classified ads – You may also choose to sell your craft by taking ads out in your local papers. This one is a bit harder to do because people generally can not see what it is you are selling and the ads you place will generally be small. The upside to this is that you are able to sell your craft out of your home without lugging a ton of things to and from a booth. It is also cheaper then renting a booth in a craft fair or flea market.

Selling your crafts online – More and more this is becoming the preferred method to selling your craft. The reason for this is because you can set up your craft store for almost no money so it is much cheaper to do then the other methods. You can have pictures of your craft in your online store so your customer can see just what it is that you are selling. Plus you can do this from out of your house with nothing more then a computer and basic camera.

If learning how to sell crafts online is something you would be interested in then I would recommend that you look into Etsy.com. The reason for this is because they are geared towards crafters. In fact, if what you are selling is not handmade, vintage, or supplies for crafters you can not even build a store there. Etsy is also very inexpensive. To list a craft in your store for three months it costs .20.
